At the end of your first date, unavoidably you will have to deal with the question of kissing. You don't have to kiss if you don't want to, nevertheless your partner may want to, and you will have to deal with that. There are simple kisses with no deeper meanings, other kisses can be serious and can be quite exciting. Kissing is one of the most intimate acts, and by doing this, you show your trust: your eyes are closed, and you expose one of the most vulnerable parts of your body: your neck.

Because it is such an intimate act, some people see kissing as a prelude to sex, and will kiss only if they are prepared to go all the way. Others think kissing is an activity in itself, having no connection to sex. They can kiss for hours, and then say goodnight. So it is really important to know the difference between a quick kiss that has no deeper meaning and a serious kiss.

Kissing is not the only way to say goodbye: you can shake hands, which means you don't want to move too fast. This gesture, however, can be easily misinterpreted, and your date may think something went wrong, or you are dismissive. You can also hug your date. Hugging is very similar to kissing, as it can have a lot of meanings depending on the duration and body position. Its message can range from friendly and casual to passionate. Hugging can be also the gateway to kissing.

Scientists clam that there are at least 25 kinds of kisses with the same number of interpretations. However, there is no need to know every kind of kissing, as the person you are kissing with probably doesn't know and doesn't care either. Just follow your instincts and everything will be all right. Despite the fact that kissing is not a theoretical issue, you should be able to tell the difference between a quick kiss and a serious kiss.

Quick kiss is really common: people who just met will kiss each other on the cheek. In some countries this is part of national identity. If your date kisses on your cheek at the end of your date, just say goodbye: your date doesn't want anything serious at the moment. However, if your date kisses you on the cheek when you meet, then you should have quite high expectations about what will come later.

There is no way you can't see a serious kiss is coming. You will notice the sizzling air between you two, and the body language of your partner will be quite easy to read. A serious kiss is always sensual, but doesn't necessarily mean sex is the next step. However, because serious kissing is a full-body experience, you can be sure that sex is not very far away.

Usually men think serious kissing as a part of sexual games. Women don't necessarily think that, and quite often they will give long and passionate kisses, and then just leave.

There are certain signs that will tell you a kiss is on the way: the air is sizzling, you are facing each other, quietly looking into each other's eyes.

But kissing is optional: you can also say goodbye with a hug, you can shake hands or even wave.
